I’m still early in my endurance journey, and there’s so much more I want to achieve and will. Because that’s what we love to do. The path is never linear, but it’s always the most rewarding.
I’ve never been one to do things by halves. During lockdown in 2020, I took up running from scratch and, two weeks in, set myself a goal to run a marathon. One rainy Monday morning, I figured: why not today? My family laughed, wished me luck, and I headed out the door.
What followed was hours of battling with my own mind and body, one foot in front of the other, pushing through the pain until I hit the full distance. I couldn’t walk properly for a week, but I was hooked. That feeling of mental and physical grit, the structure, the progress — it lit something in me.
Since then, I’ve gone on to become a sub-3 hour marathoner (2:59), an Ironman Wales finisher, and have completed multiple Ironman 70.3 races. I’ve even been lucky enough to share parts of that journey as a guest on the Effortless Swimming podcast and YouTube channel — twice.
